Pressure Vessel Engineering & Assessment

Code-based ASME engineering supported by advanced analysis when geometry, loading or thermal behaviour requires deeper assessment.

Pressure Vessel & Pressure Vessel Engineering

ASME design and assessment

  • ASME Section VIII Division 1
  • ASME Section VIII Division 2
  • Nozzles and reinforcement
  • Flanges, supports and attachments
  • Existing equipment modifications
  • Local and thermal stress assessment

Design-by-rule + FEA

Conventional code equations provide an efficient basis where applicable. FEA can be used for local discontinuities, nozzle loads, thermal gradients and complex structural interaction.

Code-based vessel engineering

FEAtech provides pressure vessel design and assessment support using the applicable ASME methodology and project design basis. Work can combine design-by-rule calculations with local stress assessment or finite element analysis where geometry, external loads, attachments or discontinuities require a more detailed evaluation.

Analysis and modification support

Typical scopes can include vessel components, nozzles, reinforcement, supports, attachments, external piping loads, thermal effects and modification assessments. The required analysis level is selected to match the engineering question and applicable acceptance criteria.

Pressure vessel assessment with a defined design basis

Pressure vessel engineering begins with a clear understanding of the applicable design basis, materials, geometry, operating conditions and loads. For existing equipment, available drawings and previous calculations help establish what is being assessed. Conventional design calculations and finite element analysis can then be selected to address the specific vessel, proposed modification or loading condition.
